Easy Baked Pumpkin Donuts
One thing I always say is to learn where to cut out some corners when it comes to baking. I love homemade, but sometimes using a boxed mix, and pairing with other ingredients can give you that homemade taste with less of an effort. These baked pumpkin donuts are really light and moist, and so addictive. Rolled in powdered sugar offers that perfect element of sweet. I have even dipped these donuts in butter and did a cinnamon and sugar dip instead of powdered sugar, and that turned out awesome as well.
Adding in the cinnamon or pumpkin spice seasoning will give you that pumpkin spice donut flavor. Without the seasoning, you will have a more mellow but still tasty pumpkin donut. I am the type that loves pumpkin spice, so I always opt in for the tasty pumpkin spice mix.
Baked Pumpkin Donuts
I love making baked donuts over frying them. I love the cake-like texture they have. We bought a donut pan a few years back and it really changed our lives. It was like we were able to make donuts in a hurry for a breakfast without having to run out to the store. Whip up some homemade icing or top with sprinkles. What is your favorite donut flavor?
I liked the recipe very much!
Could you use lemon pie filling instead of pumpkin?
Do I have to use yellow cake mix or can I use white? If there is a reason to use yellow no biggie…
I have not tried white personally, but if you do and want to come back and leave me a comment about how it turns out that would be great!
Do we mix cake mix as directed on the box & include the can of pumpkin or do we just mix the two?
You don’t mix the cake mix as the box says, just the dry cake mix and the can of pumpkin :)
These look delicious. Can I make them in a mini muffin pan (like donut holes) instead? :)
You could definitely try it, although I haven’t tried that myself. If you do, let me know how it turns out!
Made these today. A dozen doughnuts and 4 muffins (with the batter left over.) We used spice cake instead of yellow. The six year old did it pretty much by herself. How much fun! And how very yummy!
What size can of pumpkin are you using? We have 2 different sizes available in Canada.
15 ounce can
