One of my New Year’s Resolutions was to get more sleep! I really feel like I get more done when I get up early and get going on my day, but that means going to bed On Time or Earlier than I’m used to. I have really been working hard on getting more rest, and I thought I would share some things that have helped me get to sleep easier and on time.
7 Tips for Getting More Sleep
#1 – Use Natural Sleep Aids
We LOVE Lavender Essential Oil in our bedrooms, I like to start my diffuser with Lavender about an hour before I really need to be in bed, this helps me mentally start thinking about going to bed and it also helps the room smell great and it helps my body relax so that I can get a great nights sleep!
#2 – Make it a Habit
I know this is probably the hardest part, but going to bed at a consistent time helps your body adjust to the routine. It’s also easier to get up in the mornings if your consistent about what time you go to bed and wake up.
#3 – Set an Alarm
I have found that setting an alarm on your phone can be a great reminder, this can be a reoccurring alarm so that it goes off every night as a reminder to start heading to bed. It’s easy to loose track of the time and a simple reminder is all you need sometimes.
#4 – Put Your Phone Away
Did you know that over 70% of Americans sleep with their phone next to their bed? That’s a crazy high amount and if you really want to fall asleep quickly and get more rest try putting your phone on a dresser or table across the room, that way you aren’t tempted to stay up an extra 30-45 minutes scrolling through Facebook or Instagram.

#5 – Turn your Phone on Do Not Disturb
Unless your expecting someone to call in the middle of the night you can turn your Do Not Disturb setting on your phone on at night. This will keep annoying text messages and notifications from popping up distracting you and causing you to check your phone over and over again.
#6 – Opt for an Old Fashioned Book
We spend all day long on a Screen, we are watching TV, Browsing the Internet, Working at a Desk, Checking Facebook and Text Messages and then we crawl in bed with an iPad or Kindle. Let your eyes rest and relax with an old fashioned book! It’s a simple switch that will help your mind and body relax so you can fall asleep quickly.
#7 – Find the Right Mattress
