One of my favorite ways to save money when it comes to Extreme Couponing is by using all the great High Value Printable Coupons available each day. Yesterday we rounded up 25 of the Top Printable Coupon Websites for you to check out and today I wanted to talk a little about Saving Money on Printer Ink, Paper and more!
6 Ways to Save Money while Printing Coupons
1. Check your Printer Settings
This one is so easy but it can save you a lot of money. Most coupons print automatically without giving you a chance to change your printer settings so you will want to change the settings for your computer to Black and White so that you don’t spend even more money printing your coupons in color.
To adjust your printer settings go to your Control Panel and choose “View Devices and Printers” Then you can change the default settings for your default printer and your coupons should start printing in Black and White which will save you a lot of money!
2. Use a Laser Printer
I know that not everyone is able to invest in a new printer specifically for printing coupons but did you know that Laser Printers have the Lowest Ink Costs per page. You can actually get a Black and White Monochrome Laser Printer for as low as $70 on Amazon! This is a great investment item if you are planning on doing a lot of coupon printing and if you consider the price of Ink on HP Printers the savings can really add up fast.
Check out the prices on the Brother HL2230 Monochrome Laser Printer on Amazon, this is one of my favorite printers for printing coupons, it only prints in Black and White so you don’t have to worry about wasting color ink.
3. Recycle Your Old Ink Cartridges
You can actually save big by recycling and buying your Ink Cartridges at the same store. Staples offers $2 back in rewards for every ink or toner cartridge you recycle when you have spent $30 on ink or Toner over the previous 180 days. So it makes a lot of sense to Buy and Recycle your cartridges at the same place. Staples Rewards members also earn 2% Back on all their purchases, while that might seem like a small amount this can really add up fast! Office Depot also has a similar program. You can get what is effectively $2 in rewards and they only require a $10 purchase, but you will need to meet the $10 Minimum to get your rewards each quarter so it’s best to recycle 5 ink cartridges at a time.
4. Order your Ink Cartridges Online!

5. Only Print the Coupons You Need!
I love printing out all the great new coupons at once but I have found that I typically dont use all the coupons I print when I do that. It’s easy to clip away and hit print without thinking about the printing costs.
We always use Direct Links to Coupons when we can so that you don’t have to worry about printing more coupons than you need, while you may spend more on Paper I typically get my paper for free so it’s better to only print the best coupons as they come up & to print just the coupons you know you will use when you go to the store.
6. Take advantage of Free Paper Deals
One of the things I NEVER Pay for is Printer Paper! :) When you are printing coupons almost on a daily basis it’s easy for the cost of Printer Paper to add up quickly! Staples is one of my favorite places to get FREE Printer Paper! They offer Printer Paper for $1 or as low as Free at least once a month!
