7 Secrets for Saving Money at Big Lots
Do you love a great deal? If so, shopping at Big Lots may be for you. Big Lots specializes in all sorts of close out deals, giving you more bang for your shopping buck. But did you know you can save even more money at Big Lots with just a few quick tips? Take a look below at 7 secrets for saving money at Big Lots!
1. Sign up for the rewards program.
This is one of the easiest ways to earn discounts and other great rewards. Sign up for your free rewards card at checkout and use it each time you shop. Your purchases will be tracked and you can earn gift cards on future purchases!
2. Follow them on social media.
Be sure to follow Big Lots on social media sites such as Facebook. You will be the first to know about upcoming sales and specials, and may get treated to the occasional printed coupon or two! If you ever visit their website, be sure to get on their email list as well.
For example they recently had a B1G1 50% off Sale on all Candles in stores which you would only have known about through their Facebook Page.
3. Check for orange price stickers.
When a product has an orange sticker on it, you know it has been reduced for a quick sale. Keep your eyes peeled for these bright orange stickers as the items they are attached to are now priced as low as 75% off the original price.
4. Visit the seasonal items often.
The prices on the seasonal items drop pretty quickly. If you see an item you love in the seasonal department, wait! Head back to the department in a few days. Chances are, the price will already be lower. Visit the department at the end of the season, and prices are as much as 75% off.
5. Save those receipts.
It is virtually impossible to return an item to Big Lots without the receipt. Should you lose yours and need to return the item, you are out of luck. Always save your receipt so you can get your cash back should you change your mind or the price drops on the item.
6. Ask for a reduction on flawed merchandise.
Big Lots is great about reducing items with scratches or dents. Should you find an item you want that is flawed, don’t be afraid to ask for a discount. In most cases you can get an additional 10% off the item.
7. Look out for 20% off sales.
A few times a year, Big Lots holds 20% off the entire store sales. You will need a coupon for this, found online or in your Sunday paper. This is when following Big Lots on social media is important, so you know when these sales pop up.
This is another time it’s a good idea to be a Rewards Buzz Club Member because they will email these coupons out to you.
Saving money at Big Lots can be a cinch when you give these tips a try. Utilize them on your next shopping trip and see how much money you can keep in your pocket!

I work at big lots. The orange stickers that say clearance are the only low price sticker. If it doesn’t have a sticker it’s a NVO (never put) which we carry. Everything’s else with a little rectangle sticker is just some random thing we get off the truck with the stickers included with them. We don’t make the prices. It’s a 50/50 chance it’s a good or bad deal.
I love big lots we don’t have one in Ogdensburg. Do you think you ever will?
