4 Ingredient Salsa
This is a quick overview of the salsa recipe. Full measurements and directions are below in the printable recipe card.
Add ingredients into a blender. Turn on and blend till your desired texture is reached.
Feel free to taste test and add in extra salt, cilantro, etc. this salsa can be tweaked on ingredients to fit your preference.
What is Rotel
Rotel is canned diced tomatoes that have green chiles added in. A delicious tomato mixture that is great for mixing in casseroles, skillet meals, and dips like this one here.
If you can’t find Rotel do a can of diced tomatoes and a small 4 ounce can of green chiles.
Storing Leftover Salsa
If you are looking to save any leftovers, place in an airtight container. Store in the fridge for 4-5 days. Then give a stir and then use as you wish.
Can You Freeze Salsa
Salsa can be frozen but the color and texture will alter a bit. But you will find it has a similar flavor to the fresh salsa you whip up. You are more than welcome to freeze for up to 2 months. Then thaw in the fridge overnight before you plan to serve it up.
Is Salsa Healthy
Salsa is rather healthy. You will find it can have some sodium depending on the canned tomatoes. But overall it is a lower carb option. Then just remember how you serve it also varies in how healthy the salsa is.
Can I Use Fresh Tomatoes
You are more than welcome to use fresh tomatoes, just swap the canned tomatoes, and use a 4 oz can of green chilis to add into the tomatoes. That will help to replace the Rotel.

- 3 cans Rotel (We used mild, since my kids would be eating it!)
- 1/3 a bunch fresh cilantro
- 2 tsp garlic salt
- Juice from 3 limes
- Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend on low until well combined. Serve with tortilla chips.
- It may be refrigerated, but the fresh cilantro tastes the best while fresh.
This is the easiest way to make fresh salsa, so I don't mind making it fresh when we have tacos or want some salsa with tortilla chips!
I also love this because it's not too spicy for my children!
