We are always on the go! Sometimes I feel like we are living out of our car and so often we don’t have what we need with us. This has been going on for years and I finally had enough!! So, this year, I decided to do something about it! I make a Carline Survival Kit!
Since we are always running from one activity to another, sometimes that means that we end up eating dinner pretty late. My kids are always begging for snacks. If I don’t have any snacks with me, we will sometimes end up running through a drive-thru, which is not really healthy or cost-effective!

One important thing to remember is that not all food will fare well in the fluctuating temperature your car endures! So, I did a little research and created a list of some car- and kid-friendly snacks!

- Nuts
- Trail Mix
- Dried Fruit
- Meat Jerky
- Granola Bars

“Mom! I’m bored!”
All the Moms out there know just what I’m talking about. You’ve been in the car for less than 10 minutes and your kids are sure that they are more bored right this second than they have ever been before!!
This is another big struggle we have had in the car. One of the ways I’ve tried to address this problem for my family is by having my kids always pack an activity bag for whatever activity we’re going to. And these bags usually have something in them that will keep my kids entertained.
If you want your Car Organizer to help keep your kids fed AND entertained, you might want to look into getting something like this Cloth organizer (that I also found on Amazon!) and adding books, toys, etc. to it so your kids always have something on hand to combat the boredom!
Books & Toys
These items are meant to keep your kids entertained while waiting in the carline at school or waiting for an activity to start.
Especially, if they didn’t bring an activity bag, my kids will get super bored while waiting in the car!
So, here’s a list of items you might want to keep in your Kit:
- Paper
- Crayons/Colored Pencils
- Pencils (My kids always need one to work on homework in the car!)
- Coloring books
- Activity books
- Easy Chapter books
- Anything else that will keep your kids entertained in the car!!
Something else I decided to throw in my Carline Survival Kit was some paper towels and Wet Ones! Eating snacks can get messy so I wanted my kids to have easy access to what they would need in case of a spill!
Final Thoughts on the Carline Survival Kit
Your Carline Survival Kit can be whatever you need it to be!! If you just want to always have snacks on hand, then grab an organizer and fill it with snacks! If you want to have items to keep your kids entertained in there too, then do that! What I love about this idea is that you can make it whatever you want it to be!!
Since my kids usually have an activity bag with them, I am planning to use the Clear Organizer and keep it stocked with snacks and drinks. My plan is to restock every weekend so I don’t have to think about it during the week.
The food storage is great if your kids tend to keep themselves entertained. A lot of times, my kids have activity bags packed for wherever we are heading so they’ve got what they need with them to keep themselves entertained.
This solution also works great if you have older kids who don’t really want toys or coloring books because they have phones to keep them occupied in the car!
