My kids LOVE magic water art and this Christmas Tree Magic Water Painting is a favorite activity for the holiday season! It’s so easy to create, but I do have a couple tips to help the activity go smoothly! You could either draw it and have your kids color it OR you could have your kids create it entirely!
How to Do Christmas Tree Magic Water Painting
I love that you only need a few supplies for this children’s activity!
Supplies for Christmas Tree Magic Water Painting
- Paper Towels
- Washable Markers – In any colors you’d like!
- Permanent Marker – I like to use a thin line marker for this.
- Baking Sheet – Or anything you could use as a backing for the paper towel like cardboard or a paper plate.
- Small bowl
- Paint brush
- Water
Instructions for Christmas Tree Magic Water Painting
Layer one paper towel over the cardboard backing. Draw a Christmas tree on the paper towel with the washable markers.
Layer the other paper towel over the first paper towel and press it up against the window or another light source so the colorful outline of the tree shows through.
With the black permanent marker, trace the elements of the tree onto the top paper towel.
Next, keep the paper towels layered over each other and place on the backing. Let your child ‘paint’ the outline with water! The color will show through just like magic! You could create any picture this way, of course, but it’s so much fun as an activity during Christmas vacation!
