I am SO excited to share this Crockpot Buffalo Wings recipe with you! Never in a million years did I expect that I could make buffalo wings at home which taste exactly like what you’d find in a restaurant. The taste of the buffalo sauce is spot on and the texture of the wings is exactly like what I was hoping for! Best of all, they’re made in the crockpot (except for the finishing at the end), so my oven is still available for all my other game day food preparation.
How to Make Crockpot Buffalo Wings
The process to make Crockpot Buffalo Wings is so easy! You only need a couple easy-to-find ingredients!
Ingredients for Crockpot Buffalo Wings
- 4 lbs frozen chicken wings
- 1 3/4 cups buffalo sauce, separated
- green onions or chives for garnish, optional
- Ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping, optional
What kind of sauce to use for Crockpot Buffalo Wings?
Of course, you could make your own if you so choose, but we have tried literally every bottled buffalo sauce known to man in the last few years and there is only ONE which tastes exactly like a restaurant! In my opinion, Sweet Baby Ray’s Buffalo Sauce is THE BOMB and the only kind I will use anymore! They do have a mild sauce, too! However, we use their regular buffalo sauce because it’s not too crazy spicy, either.
First, place the frozen buffalo wings in the crockpot and drizzle with 1 1/2 cups buffalo sauce. Mix together and place crockpot lid on top.
Cook the wings on high for 3 1/2 hours or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165 degrees.
Then, line a cookie sheet with foil and place cooked chicken wings on it. (In the photo, the sheet is lined with parchment paper, but when broiling, I have found that using foil works much better!
After that, with a basting brush or pastry brush, coat the cooked wings with the remaining 1/4 cup of buffalo sauce.
Preheat oven broiler to high and cook chicken wings for 3-5 minutes on each side, or until the sauce begins to look dry and the wings get very slightly golden.
Serve with minced chives (or chopped green onions) sprinkled on top, if desired. Use Blue Cheese or Ranch dipping sauce, depending on what your family likes!
If you follow these instructions, you’ll have perfectly cooked Crockpot Buffalo Wings! I can’t wait for you to try this recipe! It’s amazing!
