Are you looking for a new Chili Recipe? This Freezer Bag Turkey Chili Recipe is a great cold-weather dinner idea for your family!
My family loves this Freezer Bag Turkey Chili Recipe! It is the best quick and make-ahead meal idea for the cold months of the year. Try it today and get your freezer cooking started off right! Plus, here are even more of my favorite Freezer Meal Recipes!
Chili is the best meal you can make when it’s cold outside, and you want to put a hot dinner on the table but the truth is making it from scratch… well let’s just say it can be very time-consuming, something that to be completely honest with you, I don’t like at all!
But want to know something, you can actually prepare it ahead of time, freeze it and then just pour into your slow cooker. It literally takes so little time that I’m kicking myself for not trying it any sooner.
Best of all this is really desires and tastes like the spiced, warm, and slowly simmered version which pretty much is the best. To make it you don’t need a lot of ingredients and actually most of them are things you probably already have in your kitchen (that’s the main reason why this Freezer Bag Turkey Chili is so good!). The other great thing about the ingredients is that most of them can be found on sale or purchased with coupons!
I especially love that’s made with turkey instead of traditional ground beef because it’s also healthier and leaner and honestly with all the eating and indulging during the holidays a lighter meal is really appreciated. However, you can also use leftover turkey instead of ground turkey which is also great and makes this the best post-Thanksgiving meal ever.
I like to duplicate the recipe and have enough for 2 big freezer bags of turkey chili which will last us for 2 dinners. But if you are feeling like going the extra mile you can batch it and make around 10 bags to have enough dinners for a couple of weeks.
This can last for up to 6 months in the freezer and assembling each one takes around 10 minutes so it’s really handy.
- 2 Cups ground turkey
- ½ Cup canned peas
- ½ Cup canned corn
- ½ Cup canned white beans
- 1 Onion, sliced
- 2 Tbsps chopped parsley leaves
- 2 Tsps chili powder
- Olive oil drizzles
- 4 Garlic cloves, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Shredded mozzarella cheese to taste
To Freeze it:
- Season the ground turkey with the chili powder, salt, and pepper.
- Mix well with the onion and garlic.
- Mix with the remaining ingredients, transfer to a freezer-friendly bag and take to the freezer.
To Cook it:
- Remove from the freezer and let it thaw for 1 hour.
- Take to the slow cooker and cook on high for 4 hours or until done.
- Top with more mozzarella cheese.
- Serve and enjoy.
