Tips for Freezer Cooking Recipes
If I’m being honest Freezer Cooking can be completely overwhelming when you first start out, You have to find recipes, gather all your supplies, plan time to cook, and while that sounds easy, there’s just something about trying to cook 20 meals at once that’s hard to imagine for most of us. That’s why you need a plan!
Freezer Cooking 101 –
I thought I would put together a list of tips and tricks that has helped me get started with Freezer Cooking so that you can try this yourself without getting overwhelmed, Trust me just starting was one of the best decisions I ever made because it’s completely transformed how I think about Dinner!
- Start Small!
Don’t Dive head first into freezer cooking, instead of planning 30 meals at once, try making 3-4 recipes and doubling them. You can also try the Bake & Freeze method where you double a recipe while you’re making it, Bake one and Freeze one. This is an easy way to fill up your freezer with a few meals that you can pull out on busy nights! - Use Simple Recipes!
This is not the time to try the latest Giada De Laurentiis recipe, You want to start with things you know, or things that you find online that are tried and true Freezer Meals. This will take a little bit of the guesswork out of the process. - Create a List of ALL Ingredients You Need!
Don’t worry about what you have already when you first start making your list, you want your shopping list to have Everything you need for all the meals, even if you already have that item. Then you can go through your pantry and freezer and make sure you have enough of everything, If you have enough of an item then you don’t need to buy it and you can go ahead and cross it off your list at this point, but this is the easiest way I have found to make sure you don’t miss something. - Prep Meals with a Friend or Family Member!
Nothing makes Freezer Cooking more fun than getting together with a Friend or Family Member while cooking, Pick one home and double the meals you want to cook, time flies when you’re having fun and it’s easier to split the prepping and cooking duties when you have 2 people + working together + another benefit is you can shop at Warehouse stores for your ingredients since you’ll be making more of everything! - Label your Meals!
One thing I find that really is so simple but incredibly helpful is labeling my meals. I always try to label them not only with the Name of the Recipe, but also the baking instructions or anything else I need to know like “Top with 8 oz. of Cheese and Bake for 30 Minutes at 400 Degrees” That takes all the guess work out of actually preparing the meals and helps me get dinner on the table fast! - Try a Freezer Cooking Plan!
If you’re still a little overwhelmed why not try a simple plan with everything you need already pulled together.
