I love Valentine’s Day ideas like this Twinkie Heart Strawberry Shortcake! Why? Because it’s SO easy to make, but it looks super-cute, too! This heart shortcake hack is pretty self-explanatory, BUT there is a certain way of cutting and placing the Twinkies together that is the only way it will work! Read below to see what I mean.
How to Make Twinkie Heart Strawberry Shortcake
As you can see, this little treat is SO easy to make, if you cut the Twinkies the right way. You have to make two different cuts, but you’ll see what I mean below!
Ingredients for Twinkie Heart Shortcake
- Twinkies
- Strawberries
- Sugar
- Cool Whip – You could also use canned whip cream, which is what I did!
Instructions for this Heart Strawberry Shortcake Hack
Cut the strawberries in slices and mix with the sugar. Set aside so the sugar and strawberry juices can combine.
Next, unwrap the Twinkies and place on a cutting board. Cut two of them diagonally in the middle from left to right, with the left side higher than the right. Next, do the same but cut right to left with the right side higher.
Place one Twinkie half from the side with the left side higher with another Twinkie half cut with the right side higher. See what I mean? It won’t work if you cut all the same way.
Place the sliced strawberries on top of each Twinkie heart. Add whipped cream on top. Garnish your Twinkie Heart Strawberry Shortcake with valentine sprinkles, if desired.
