This Waffle Gingerbread House Breakfast Idea is SO much for for Christmas Morning or even as an activity while your kids are on break! I love that it’s so easy to make with premade waffles, too! (Of course, if you have a square waffle iron, you could always make your own.) Check out the step by step photos below to make it!
How to Make a Waffle Gingerbread House
It’s really quite easy to make a Waffle Gingerbread house! You only need the waffles and a few other ingredients!
Waffle Gingerbread House Ingredients
- Eggo Mini Waffles, toasted – I like using these waffles for this kids recipe because they’re a square shape, like a house! Most of the frozen waffles are round or an octagon shape. It’s rather difficult to find a square-shaped waffle maker, too! But, I did find this Belgian Waffle Maker that is reasonably priced on Amazon if you want to make homemade waffles for this project.
- Cool Whip
- Sprinkles
- Berries, if desired (Red ones would be best, in my opinion! You could use raspberries and strawberries for this project.)
- Red Licorice
- Holiday M&Ms
First, you’ll need two Eggo Mini Waffles. Cut one in half to make two triangles and place them on the plate to make the base of your Gingerbread Waffle House. Cut a cooked mini smoked sausage link at an angle and place it on the roof. This is the chimney! So cute, right?
Spoon the Cool Whip into a disposable pastry bag and pipe it on like you would frosting on a gingerbread house. You (or your children) can create the roof, windows, or anything your holiday heart desires!
Next, snip the licorice to just a little over one inch pieces and place them on the waffle house so they look like a door. Pipe around the house with Cool Whip and add M&Ms for the door knob and as desired on the house to decorate it!
The Gingerbread Waffle House is best enjoyed right away! So how will you make this?! Will you surprise your kids with it or let them decorate it themselves? Either way, children of all ages will love this festive breakfast idea during the holiday season!
Can I freeze a Gingerbread Waffle House?
I would not suggest freezing it. Before it freezes completely, the Cool Whip will soak into the waffles and make them soggy, so this kids recipe is best enjoyed right away!
