Add in your M&M’s and mix up and enjoy.
Storing your muddy buddies is very easy. Once it has set up all you have to do is pour it into a container or sealable bag. Then store at room temperature for up to a week.
You can freeze any of the puppy chow for up to three months. Just make sure to have it in a sealed container. Then thaw on the counter when you are ready to eat.
Can I Color White Chocolate With Food Coloring
Adding food coloring to white chocolate can cause the chocolate to seize up. You will find that is why it is recommended to use candy melts instead of adding food coloring to chocolate.
Candy melts are colored chocolate that also has ingredients in them to help harden them up. This helps make sure you don’t end up with sticky fingers.
Does This Patriotic Muddy Buddies Double

Our hack for vibrant muddy buddies colors: Use less powdered sugar than you usually would with puppy chow or muddy buddies, so the colors show brightly through the sugar!
***Note: I used pale blue candy melts, and when combined with the peanut butter, the mixture turned light green! So, I added a bit of blue food coloring and the end result turned out really pretty! If you use the dark blue candy melts, I don't think there would be a need for food coloring.
Tip: Sometimes candy melts don't melt quite as smoothly as chocolate. If you need to thin it down, add a couple tablespoons of shortening to the bowl, microwave, and stir. It worked liked a charm for me!
