4th of July Pretzel Bark is a quick and easy no-bake patriotic dessert to make this summer. Whether you are looking for a 4th of July Dessert or even Memorial Day this easy pretzel bark recipe is sure to win over a crowd.
With a handful of ingredients required and a little bit of time, you have a salty and sweet dessert that you can break up and place on a serving tray. I make this for mid-day snacking when hosting parties and make for a midnight treat for the husband and me.
4th of July Pretzel Bark
July is the perfect time to serve up this sweet and salty dessert to your friends and family. They will swoon over the salty pretzels, toffee flavoring and coating of colorful chocolate. This is a play on Christmas Crack we all know and love with salted crackers.
Can I Use Gluten Free Pretzels in Pretzel Bark Recipe
Of course. If you have a particular brand of pretzels you prefer, reach for that. Gluten-free will work, or any other brands of pretzels or shapes. You can use sticks, circular pretzels, or the classically shaped pretzels.
How To Store 4th of July Pretzel Bark
I generally leave the bark out on the counter after it has hardened up. I just place in an airtight container and then store it that way. If you are having hot weather, you can place it in the fridge so the chocolate doesn’t melt. Either way, this bark will last for around a week before it needs to be tossed.
Can You Freeze Pretzel Bark
The moisture will cause the pretzels to taste a bit stale once they are frozen and then thawed. So I personally do not recommend freezing your pretzel bark for later. If you want you are welcome to try, and if you don’t mind the texture change then go for it!
How To Make 4th of July Pretzel Bark
Pretzel Layer
Start by crunching up those pretzels and laying over the bottom of a lined pan. This will be your bottom layer.
Toffee Layer
Next comes the toffee layer where you will cook your butter and sugar together. Cook and allow to simmer to help remove the crystallized sugar from the mixture. Pour over your crushed up pretzels. Toss in the oven to bake to allow that mixture to give depth and flavor.
Chocolate Layer
Once you remove the mixture from the oven you sprinkle on your chocolate chips and allow them to sit. They will begin to melt and then you can use a spatula and smooth it over the entire top of the pan.
Decorate
Then you will mix your candy melts and drizzle the colors over the top offering that red white and blue patriotic design, as well as 4th of July, sprinkles to finish it off!
