I still love a good charcuterie board, don’t you?! This Chili Charcuterie Board is such an easy idea for dinner during the colder months. I love it because everyone can customize their bowl of chili with their favorite toppings. My kids have a blast putting together their own bowl and sprinkling all of their selected ingredients on top. It’s so easy to put together!
How to Make a Chili Charcuterie Board
Even though it’s really easy to create a Chili Charcuterie Board, sometimes it may seem intimidating at first glance when one sees all the different elements placed together. Don’t fret, I have step by step photos for you that show you exactly how to put one together from the ground up!
Ingredients for a Chili Charcuterie Board
- Chili (of course!)
- Onions
- Fritos
- Crackers
- Bacon Bits
- Jalapenos
- Purple Onions
- Queso Blanco
- Shredded Cheese
- Lime Slices
- Cilantro
- Anything else you can dream up!!
First, place your chili in one large bowl in the middle of the board. After that, place all of your smaller ingredient bowls all over the board or tray. Play with sizing and placement of which bowl fits where. Space out your larger bowls and your smaller bowls so the board will be visually equal on both sides.
When you fill the bowls, try to spread out the colors and textures. For example, I placed the green onions, jalapeno slices, and limes on opposite sides of the board to make a visual triangle so the green-filled bowls weren’t right next to each other. I did the same with the white queso blanco cheese and the light-colored shredded cheese. Don’t fill the bowls with ingredients until you’re sure you know where you want everything.
Lastly, fill in the spaces between the bowls with the other ingredients. I used whole green onions, limes, cilantro, crackers, Fritos, and tortilla chips to fill in the gaps. The end result is a really visually pleasing Chili Charcuterie Board!

What cheese do you eat with chili?
There are several types of cheese which go best with chili! It truly all comes down to your family’s taste. There is no right or wrong cheese to serve with chili. For example, many people like shredded cheddar cheese (whether it’s mild, medium, or sharp) on their chili, so that is probably the most popular. However, we like shredded pepper jack cheese or even queso fresco (which is a Mexican cheese that can be easily crumbled). It really comes down to personal preference!
What is the secret to great chili?
If you’re using a recipe, try customizing it by adding a small amount of cocoa powder, cinnamon, coffee, maple syrup or even peanut butter to your chili! It’s a blast to play around with different flavors! Keep in mind, these are added in VERY small amounts!
